I just completed several dives with my new Oceanic veo 180. It performed great, from what I could tell. I want to download the dive records to a PC. Is the Oceanic software 'OceanLog' the only software that will work with this dive computer? Or are there generic versions of PC dive log software available that will accept, analyse, interpret, graph, ... generally deal with data from a variety of dive computers? I've only seen one review of the OceanLog software and it wasn't particularly complementary. I also see there is a full 2.0x upgrade version of OceanLog available as a free download.

Thanks for any info or experience you can share.

There are quite a few posts about the software. Some good, some bad, and
a few very informative.
The Oceanic OceanLog s/w is the same as the Aeris ACI s/w so you can use
information from reviews of that s/w as well. I've done quite a few posts about it
over the past couple of months.
Aeris S/W Thread

The oceanlog s/w is the only s/w that can download the data from the dive computer.
Oceanic hasn't released their download protocol so there isn't any other 3rd
party s/w that can download the data directly from the dive computer.

In my opinion, I think the 2.x s/w is fairly decent.
If you end up not liking the OceanLog s/w, the only other alternative that I know
of that works with the Oceanic dive data is Scubase.
It is a very customizable database, with customizable screens and
printouts.

Even though Scubase can import the Oceanic/Aeris data, you still have to have
the download cable and s/w from Oceanic. Scubase cannot directly
download the computer. You will have to use the Oceanic s/w
to get the data from the dive computer and save it to the PC before
Scubase can import the data.

Both Oceanic & Scubase will let you download the s/w and try it
before you buy it.

I downloaded and installed the latest version to use with my VersaPro. It worked fine. However, I have not yet tried to enter any additional dives manually.
