Any recommendations on a dive computer sized for a woman with a small (6-inch) wrist? I've been renting so far, and they're always these clunky units designed for sumo wrestlers  that leave a huge length of strap flapping loose. I've been wondering if it would be worthwhile to invest in something that fits a little better.

A lot of us replace our straps with fixed-sized bungees, so any sized wrist will have the perfect fit for any gage.

Just a thought...

Here's a link to how one diver made the change to his compass, but the principal is the same for all gages.

Hi Mesa Nan,

I would say go for a suunto mosquito, or one of the other watch style computers(mares nemo, scubapro extender) which would suit a lady better.

Either way I would switch the strap out for one of the strap like found here http://www.joediveramerica.com/scubagear/aewkstrap.html
so that even if the pin fails you never lose the watch. (not sure if this is possible on the units other than the mosquito.

Cheers,

Matt.

If you are interested in the watch size computers, just make sure you can actually read it. Bigger more readable display is a benefit of the larger units. Some are less clunky than others. You could do the bungie thing. If you are buying your own, you can also cut off the excess strap and just that will make it less awkward. Just be sure to leave enough to fit over any wetsuit you might wear.

The Scubapro Xtender is a nice wristwatch style dive computer, but you have to go to the Scubapro Japan web site to see all the various models & options for the Xtender. There are pictures of some female models wearing the Xtender there.

Otherwise, the Dive Rite NiTek Plus or Apeks Pulse are 2 mix capable wristwatch size units to consider.

This article had a number of wristwatch size units laid out with options side-by-side for comparisons - including the 'base' model Scubapro Xtender advertised in the USA.
