Great conditions at Cathedral rocks, my all time favorite dive site on Cape ann With winds from NW, thought for sure would be calm. Sure enough when got there, it was a lake. I was fortunate to get a parking spot when I arrived at 10. Several divers were emerging from one of the first dives of the day when I arrived.

High Tide was 12:56

I ended up doing 3 dives there. (Needed the excercise.) The water is cool at depth 46-50 degrees at 70 fsw. (Low 60s on surface) Really enjoyed laying out in the sun during Surface Intervals. Was fine diving all 3 dives wet.

When surfaced from dive one, I counted 5 flags in the water.

Dive 2 was easiest exitng as was high tide.

Dive 3, still easier than normal to get out and definately called it a day.

Basically, went to the moon and checked out all the cool walls, overhangs and huge boulders. Repeated on dives 2 and 3. Suprisingly, not many big bugs. Lots of little guys.

Was able to get to check out Freedom divers for the first time. I wanted to have my tanks filled just in case can get out later this week while the water is still warm. Nice operation. Glad they were opened on Labor Day!

Hi reefseal,

we were there sunday and did two dives, conditions were perfect also! thats a fun place to dive.

Got a shot off at a HUGE cod but lady luck was not with me , he was to far in the rocks .

Did you get out on the sands or stay on the rocks?

David

I basically headed out on a SE Heading (Right diagonal after entry point) towards the Sand. and weaved my way back to entry point. There were some others lobstering that got 80 fsw. I usually head towards the sand and follow the rocks to right. I find that area so cool. A lot of abandoned pots and huge tangles of lines though. My body is feeling it today.
