I got mine directly from the Company but I had my credit card charged by the LDS that is their distributor. It just so happened that the Shearwater offices are just a couple of miles away from my office but going to their authorized distributor would have meant about an hour of dealing with downtown traffic. So I sent Shearwater an email asking if I could pick my unit in their offices but have the dive shop charge my credit card over the phone. I got a reply within a couple of hours even though they were in Moscow working a tradeshow.

I've always dealt directly with Shearwater and found out they are very responsive to my questions as well as receptive to my feedback.
 
If you're looking for a "deal" why not buy used?
