We'll be there in August and were wondering if she's still guiding dives. We went with her way back in 2006 and she was so knowledgeable about the local reefs, but I haven't seen any mention of Octopus Reef lately.

I have not heard of Octopus reef. Where is it? Have not heard of Rene either, what company?

Her name is Rene Umbarger (sp?) - she was located in South Maui -maybe she's not in business anymore
Mmmm I know a lot of the divers here and have not heard of her. I don't know everyone though. It's a great day on Maui. I have a friend Jessica that is a marine biologist that is a DM. PM me if you have any interest in scooter diving. We often see big animals.
