With all the talk of the cull, and shark fear-mongering, it's nice to see divers coming together to rescue sharks :)

Great to see. I've dived with the Grey Nurses up in NSW a few times. They're such beautiful creatures. It's a tragedy to hear that there are only about 1500 left.

With the decline in shark finning, and raising popularity of shark tourism, I have hopes that we can save most of the shark species from extinction :)

Marine debris is really tragic, though. Here in the US so many fishing ships and boats sink, and are never salvaged due to insurance companies finding it cheaper to just pay for the loss. Nets lost at sea continue trapping and killing seals, birds, sharks, and other species for years. Government and fishing industries don't care since it would cost them money to cleanup, leaving us divers really the only ones who can do something about it.
