I'm going to be in Aus (Melbourne) for a few months to ski and hopefully to dive later on. I'm from Northern California and in the past I have been able to live out of my car and do 4 great shore dives a day up in Monterey for like $20 total (obviously Aus would be more due to tank and weight rental).

I would have to do a liveaboard and shell out $1k+ for 3-5 days. Since I could theoretically be there for a couple of MONTHS, regular boat diving simply won't be economical...
