Several of us were having dinner the other night and the question came up as to: "What should one have in a repair kit?"

Could other divers please list what they feel are the necessary tools and gear that
they bring with them on a dive. Thanks.

In my kit I have: a spare o-ring kit (have used it more that once)
a couple of valve cores (for the inflater hose)
extra cam strap
several cable ties
extra fin straps
a few velcro straps
asst tools: straight & phillips screwdrivers
cresent wrenches
regular & needlenose pliers
a dental pick (to remove o-rings)
valve core tool ( long enough to reach inside inflator hose connector)
I'm sure others here will be able to add more to the list.

5/8" and 9/16" wrenches (you may need metric)
scubatool
pliers
assortment of o-rings
silicon lube
duct tape
fin strap
mask strap
SPF30 sunblock
bandaids
spare car key(!)
scissors
reading glasses

This is off the top of my head... I'd have to look to see what else I accumulated.

Also:
Afrin.
Sudafed.
Some antacid tablets (Maalox /Tums) and a few Pepcids.

Spare computer batteries.
A quarter to open the computers with.

Great lists already given.

Mostly tools and spare o-rings for me.

The only things I've actually used in 850 dives over 11 years: o-rings, silicone lube, computer batteries, wrenches, pick.

And I've only used any of them about 6 times altogether.

Still, I wouldn't want to be without them. :)

Besides all the other stuff mentioned, Spare hoses for each reg, high pressure hose and spools, caveline, electrical tape, duct tape, christo lube, spare fin & mask straps, spool oring bullet tool, batteries, bolt snaps, and ibuprofen. As a Dm my kit is alot bigger than what most of the people I dive with carry. Hmmm, maybe that's why theirs is not as big. They know I usually have what's needed

Wow... cool thread... Darn... gotta' print this off and go through my spares kit... I've seen a number of things that make me realize that my 'basics' list could use a touch of expansion... thanks to the OP...
