I'm a Fish!
A lot of you have been asking about the improvements at the resort. Well to say that we have been very busy would be an understatement. But as I always say “Actions Speak Louder Than Words” so here are some pictures that I took during the last couple of weeks.

Tearing out the ceiling and the “Bat Cave”

A lot of you have been asking about the improvements at the resort. Well to say that we have been very busy would be an understatement.

Oh my goodness! We were just there at the beginning of November...I can't believe how much has been done since then! We saw that the air conditioners had been delivered, but they hadn't begun the installation at the time we left for home. One of the most common problems in the days of old was trying to get a room with a good air conditioner - it looks like those days are gone :banana:

I am amazed at what has been done in the restaurant. That ceiling/skylight will really open up the place and make it much brighter and happier :D We did get to sample the food prepared by the new chef, but it was only his first week there. Even on the FIRST DAY there was a HUGE improvement :wink: so I can't wait to see how much better the food is when we visit in January.

The rooms look awesome and with the new air conditioners I'm sure they will be quite comfortable, so that solves one issue. I love Fantasy Island and don't want to sound negative, but there was an even bigger problem than the air conditioners...the water! There was inconsistent water pressure (and sometimes NONE!) and we could never depend on hot water. The pictures of the bathroom look great, but what will happen when we turn on the water:confused:

First let me say thank you for your kind words but you just hit on one of the biggest complaints we have had at the resort (me included in being disappointed).

What I can tell you is that after the previous company left the resort we realized that there were several issues that they appear to have created due to lack of proper maintenance.

First the pump that brings in the water for the toilets (they use the most water) was missing! We still do not know where it is; they bypassed it and connected it to the main water supply. Now this created a tremendous drain on the system trying to keep up with the water demands for the resort. If that was not enough damage to the water supply we found several inline pumps to boost pressure were removed and bypassed creating inconsistent water pressure. Finally several of the lines were not properly repaired and were patched with piping less than half of the required diameter. In talking with one plumber he said “you are lucky if you are getting 15% efficiency out of this”. All of these problems created low or no water pressure and since it was so low it would not fill up the boilers to the proper level for them to start heating the hot water system.

So where does that put us today? Well simply put “Out with the old and in with the new”. We put in new pumps, new piping were needed and are changing all of the faucets and showerheads. I can tell you that I just got done staying there for two weeks and at no time did I not get hot water in my room, the dive shop showers, the restrooms or anywhere else around the resort.

Does this mean that it is permanently fixed? Well no, as things can happen at any time the difference I can tell you is that we have the proper crew maintaining the resort and the right tools in place should we have a problem with the water in the future.

That is music to my ears:cheerleader: It looks like the days of uncertainty are over. I can't wait to see it for myself. Honestly, the most important hot water shower for me is at the dive shop :D It is so great to come in after an hour and fifteen minute dive and run over to one of the shower stalls at the dive shop and take a nice WARM shower to get rid of the salt and warm up this old body :coffee:

Just wait until you see the warm bathrobes for you to wear while you are on your "Surface Interval". The funny thing is you will probably see people walking around the entire resort with them on. :cool2:

Rich;
All of these upgrades sound wonderful, we can't wait to get back down there this spring. I just want to make sure of one thing, DON'T CHANGE THE ICE CREAM.

This is all great news and promising photographs.

Things do break from now and again, and whenever a post shows up about a temporary lapse, that can be unfair.

This looks great.

But when all is said and done- the big thing is consistency over time.
