Greetings one and all.
Brief intro: I am a PADI Master Scuba Diver (currently in the DM program with hopes to qualify sometime this year).

I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Although some of my buddies are still diving in the local waters I prefer to stay warmer when I surface, I'm sorry but -20C / -4F is a wee bit chilly!

Looking forward to joining the conversations...... TTFN

Welcome DivingGal!

Just found this board myself and have found the threads both interesting and informative. Ottawa; didn't realize there was much diving around there. I thought most would travel to Kingston area. Halifax is not much warmer, but the water dosn't get as hard :).

Cheers!

Welcome to the board, fellow Touque Diver.

OK you caught me Remora. :D Diving in Ottawa is very limited. Diving is mainly done up the Ottawa River, and the St Lawrence. But with everything within a 1-2 hour drive, it's all a relative thing.

Thanks for the welcome Remora, SubMariner.

I'm not Canadian, Kanuckidan, oh hell...from Canada but I have a good friend in VanCouver. Does that count?

Looking forward to you thoughts and ideas.

Welcome Diving Gal, hope you're having fun up north. I was in Toronto last year on business but didn't get to dive... is there any diving out there?

Dee, LOL!

Mario :D

Nice to meet you Diving Gal and welcome from the UK

:goofy:

Hey Dee, having a friend anywhere north of the border practically makes you a Canuk. Now if you know what Poutine is, it REALLY makes you one. :D

Mario - yes there is diving around Toronto. Not only in Lake Ontario, but also in the general area. I haven't got that far "south", but as I make more and more contacts I hope to make arrangements to try out diving there. Toronto is about 5 hours away - so it also includes an overnighter if I want to dive. But if you get to Ottawa I'll take you diving.

LoCz - thanks for the welcome from the UK. I have a couple of friends in the London area who just qualified for OW this year - they're both planning vacations in warm locations to try out their skills. Where do you normally dive in the UK?

Diving Gal unfortuanately and its very painfull to say it..but i arnt certified yet ;-0

I have always wanted to get certified but i have been a student for the last 6 years so i could never afford it. ill be taking my OW course in the next few weeks. I already have a plan to become an instructor btw. Iv done a fair bit of snorkeling and my favorite place had tobe discovery cove at disney/florida, swimming with the dolphins was great. But i liked swimming with the rays the best :) diving down to the bottom and swimming with them while your underneath them is fantastic.

:goofy:

Hey LoCz -- I'm envious of you snorkling in Florida. I have friends that head there this time every year, who invite me to visit, but it's usually too busy at the office. So you have one up on me! Share some stories if you can.
