Hello! I'm almost certified as a PADI Open Water Diver (I took the course last fall at school but didn't satisfactorily complete two skills during the certification dives so I'm retaking the class and trying again) and have been surfing the web looking for interesting scuba sites. I was really glad to find the women only scuba page.

My only question I ask myself about starting scuba is the quote in my sig line. Scuba has so far met and exceeded all my hopes and expectations. Now if I can only get the hang of using a compass so I can pass the uderwater navigation skill!

I also highly recommend Liquid Fit for any woman who wants a wetsuit that fits. I was tickled to see the web page article about them when I signed on because I purchased my wetsuit from them in November (Yes, I'm that serious about diving that I already bought my wetsuit!).

I'm looking forward to making new friends here. Take care!

Welcome to the boards. Hopefully we can help you a little here. Try using your compass in an open area. Play around with it as if you were underwater and you'll see that it gets very easy once you're actually doing it.

Good luck with your class, and let us know if you have any questions we can help with.

Sea you in the Deep Blue

Christine,
Welcome to your new home, if we can help you with the compass, just ask. As my sister (Mario) said, just use it in an open area on land. Try navigating a square with your eyes fixed only on the compass and count your foosteps.
This may help.

Hi Christine! Welcome to the board! you'll get the hang of the compass real soon, no doubt! Good Luck and remember, Have FUN!

Welcome, Christine!!

Best of luck as you are retaking a few parts of the scuba class. Relax and enjoy. I have relatives in Dayton and Centerville, but don't know of any diving places...do you?? Most of my Ohio dives are in the northern half in quarries!

Again, good luck and welcome.
