    Vortex revisited

It seems this has come full circle for the hunt for Ben. The father has posted a 10k dollar reward for divers who will go retrieve his body. He even goes so far as to say and I quote " there has to be one FEARLESS cavediver out there who will do this. I am bothered by his statement and the way he went about this but that's not what concerns me the most.

What bothers me is the newer divers, and I don't think there are many that have the mentality to do try this but if you are out there stop and think about it before you act. The family doesn't understand the physics that he can't possibly be in the back of the cave. Its physically impossible that he made it there, period.

Before you get a wild hair and run off to try something stupid, have a conversation with Edd Sorenson about what you are in for and why we say he isn't there. Maybe even let Edd take you on a guided dive of what he considers small stuff. You will see it isn't worth it. We would much rather have you with us than actually have a body to go recover.

Kevin, where did the father post about the reward? Is this something new?

Glen the father befriended quite a few of us cavers on FB. I almost rejected him but thought it would be good to keep a watch on what was happening. He posted it onn FB late last night.

Whole thing is ridiculous. The tanks were in the basin and the were not full not fully operational. This is one time tho I can say the sheriffs dept did a horrible job. They needed some support from better equipped law enforcement agencies.

One way or another he will turn up eventually I am thinking.
When the best cave divers do not find him in a known system the search will broaden to encompass above the water as well. Just S.O.P.!
This disappearance has brought so much pain and suffering to the family, I feel for their loss and hope that he is found.
I do not wish any more fatalities as a result!
If he is alive and well then I hope as they do that he comes home!
This incident has created enough grief and problems!

There is no chance Ben went further than Edd.
Either he fell into a hole at a dealers house or it's an insurance scam.
Anyone hear what/how much life insurance he has?

Ben's dad should be talking to Ben's friends. They have a better idea of what happened to Ben than we do.

You know, while I agree with that my only concern now is making sure any glory seeker out there gets the truth and maybe changes their mind from trying something dumb. Someone on here might know somebody foolish enough to attempt this and maybe they can intervene and have them talk to someone who knows. If there was any sign that someone went past where Edd stopped then he would still be trying. He doesn't know how to stop and wouldn't. There is just nothing there to find, only life to be lost.
