Jackey and I traveled to Scuba Club Dec 5-13, 2009 for our annual diving with a group of friends. We got to meet some other really nice people like Beiji and Swimnut right here from Scubaboard.

I was able to do some cave diving with German Yañez on Cozumel Island. We did three dives in Aerolito Cave. The cenote was salt water, and there were barracuda in the water when we jumped in. The cave itself is full of an amazing array of sea life like I've never seen before in a cave.

During the first cave dive, we ran the main line (~500 feet) through the halocline and did a jump to a secondary passageway and another jump to a tertiary passageway. This dropped us to the lower level of the cave (60 feet), into fresh water and into small passageways with speleothems.

On the second cave dive we ran the main gold line all the way back until it dropped down to 60 feet into a old stream bed (see photo #23). We entered the small passageways with speleothems from the back side, like we were setting up a circuit.

The third cave dive was a repeat of the first, this time with a camera. This was my first attempt at cave diving photography. It didn't go so well, but I learned a lot.

Fantastic pix. Areolito is an increadibly diverse cave. Tons of life for a cave and so many different areas. Each level of the cave changes. Great first attempt at photography! Well done!!!
