Hello, I'm going to be in Maui Oct 1-16. This will be my second visit, I was there for a (too) short trip a year ago. On that visit I did a couple of runs over to Lanai with Extended Horizons. I enjoyed those trips — great guides and well run boat, I have already booked a trip with them for this visit. I have more time on this trip so I would like to explore some other options. ScubaERdoc's thread seems to offer some good suggestions for other boats, i.e. Ed Robinson's for Molokai. I know from my previous visit there is some great shore diving in Maui so I'll be looking into those possibilities as well. I'm travelling on my own so it will be guided dives or insta buddies (any other SB members on Maui looking for someone to dive with in early October?) I'm staying in Napili will have my own gear (less tanks and weights) and a car.

many thanks

Robinson's goes to Molokini, Lahaina Divers goes to Molokai on their hammerhead trips.
It's about an hour from Napili to the Kihei boat ramp if there's any traffic. (I've drove it more than once)
Robinsons, B&B, Severns and others all leave from there early (6-7am) - usually to Molokini.

Shorediving options: Scuba Shore Diving Site Listing for: Maui, Hawaiian Islands Kapalua Diving Co. shore dives Kapalua Bay and Tiny Bubbles does West Maui shore diving also. IIRC Extended Horizons does as well.

If you wanted to drive south try Shaka Doug (Shaka Divers) or Maui Dreams Dive Co. for escorted shore dives in the Kihei area.
Or Scubahawk27 for scooter diving.

Aloha PT, Welcome back to MAui soon PM me if you may be interested in trying an amazing scooter dive. I will bring the tanks and weights! Ask a few people on the board. Its the most fun you can have with your scuba gear on!

Napili to Lahaina Divers, who launch from Lahaina harbor, is about 8 minutes, so consider diving with them. Also, stop in any Maui Dive Shop and get their shore dive guide. You may find someone there looking for a buddy, or learn of people headed out that you can join. Same at Lahaina Divers, Boos Frogs, and other dive concessions. Have a great trip.

Thanks for the suggestions diversteve, Divemaster Dennis and scubahawk seems like there are many options. I'll do a little on site research on Tuesday while I'm getting over the jet-lag. Looking forward too this, six days 'till I leave (not that I'm counting) I'm sure this trip will seem too short as well… (I'm thinking most trips too Hawaii seem too short)

No doubt that trips to Hawaii always seem to short....we spend about 6 weeks a year on Maui (spread out over 4 trips) and I'm never ready to leave.

Have a great trip!! :)

Go do the scooters with scubahawk27 and his wife, The best fun in diving. Great people and I assure you, you will have a BLAST. I can't wait until Dec 1st.

I did some great scooter shore dives with Extended Horizons.

Call Eric and say that Oren sent you.

It's been rough along the shore this last week but it's shaping up again! And whale season is quickly approaching!
