Anyone know of a machine shop on Oahu that I could get to drill a couple extra holes in my BP? Looking to bungee a new SMB, but wanting some holes a bit closer than my current options are.

Universal Manufacturers in Kalihi is very good:

However, as with most machine shops they may be more expensive than it's worth. If all you're trying to do is drill two holes in your backplate (and don't need a whole lot of precision) a regular electric drill should work fine. I have a cheap black & decker drill that I've used to drill holes in all kinds of steel with no problems, including a bunch of trailer parts that are much harder than the stainless you'd find in a diving backplate. It'll wear out the drill bit, but that's OK - a new bit only costs a few dollars.

I'd have to think any decent auto-repair shop would have a drill press. Most around here do - and a mill if you needed some fancier work done like slots cut into it.

Kat's General Repair on Nimitz next to Lex Brodie. Small machine shop that is generally not too busy. She's fast and I bet she'd do this job while you wait.
