Hello Everyone,
I may be new to ScubaBoard but I have been diving for over ten years.
I took a break from diving when I moved from Honolulu back to San Diego.
Going from unlimited visibility to 15 ft vis. put a damper on my diving.
So did going from a diveskin to a 7mm wetsuit and hood.
Took a Scuba Review two months ago and now I'm taking specialty classes to get back into the swing. I dive in a 5mm wetsuit w/ a hooded vest and I'm perfectly comfortable at 54 degrees at depth. Post to ya later

Welcome aboard...if diving in San Diego,...go to Sunset Cliffs and Point Loma, dive in and around the kelp beds near the local surf spots,...I found 33rds and newbreaks to be the better of the areas, avoid Garbage and subs as the rips are usually bad there...they are at the foot of the stairs and just south,,, usually glassy conditions the farther south you go....good luck...

Hey there ChrisMSD,

I live in Vista (north San Diego County) - and would like to welcome you to San Diego diving and to ScubaBoard!! It just so happens a group of us SoCal Kelp Divers are planning a barbecue/diving day at La Jolla Shores January 14th. Consider this a formal invitation to join us!! For information, click here:

Also, you might want to poke around the California Kelp Divers forum just to start hooking up with other SD divers online and in the water:

If you are into shore diving in San Diego, the San Diego Divebums site provides excellent site descriptions:

Great to have you here and hope to see you around!

Chris... welcome to California... if you can dive here, you can dive anywhere... :D

Anyhow, WetRat gave some good information. Maybe I'll see you at one of the dives...

Happy diving.
