hey guys just sayin hi im new to scubaboard and was looking for an answer for one of my students just wondering if anyone has ever had a student that they couldnt get to clear there ears even at the surface?

Welcome to the 'Board, Josh! What exactly is the problem? I've found that sometimes it's not necessarily the ears but nervousness instead. However, I'd have the student see an ENT first before trying to force them under water.

I would have to agree with dive-aholic. If your student can't "clear" there ears at suface, an ENT visit is definitly in order.
