Dive accident

There was a dive accident happened last week, a solo diver passed away.
When the body was found, his head was found to be injured, then the color of his face turned purple. By the time he was found, he was dead already.

I am curious, is it common to found deseased diver from accident having a purple face?

The site was in Asia, and the guy was a German, a lawyer.
A group of people including himself arrived the site (300 m off shore) with a boat at around 14:45. Shortly after that, he decided to dive solo, according to the report, around 16:00, they realized his bottle should be used up, but still couldn't find him. The police was informed, around 17:00 they arrived the site. When the body of found, no breath already, injured head, and purple face.
