Coast Guard uses night vision goggles to rescue scuba diver - Hawaii News Now - KGMB and KHNL

KAENA POINT (HawaiiNewsNow) - A scuba diver missing for about 13 hours off Kaena Point was found in the dark ocean by a Coast Guard helicopter crew using night vision goggles.
On Sunday, rescue crews began their search for the 46-year-old Ewa Beach man. Officials say he had gone scuba diving off a boat with some friends at about noon.
According to the Coast Guard, the diver failed to show up at the meeting time.
The diver reportedly got swept away by the current. For hours, he tried to get to shore using a propeller-type device to power him through the waters.
The Coast Guard continued its search after dark using a helicopter. A crew member spotted the diver about two miles off shore.
A rescue swimmer entered the water and both were transported by a Coast Guard Boat at about 1 a.m. Monday.
According to the Coast Guard, the diver was wearing a dry suit. He remains in good condition and did not require medical condition.
