I've got an older Motorola V66 tri-band phone which has a replacable SIM card in it. Could I use this on Cozumel if I had the correct SIM card?:dork2:

I can't think why not, as long as it's unlocked. If it's locked to a specific operator (such as T-Mobile) then it won't work with another operator's SIM. It shouldn't be very difficult to get it unlocked, though.

if it is cingular now att they have a mexico plan to add on for a month for 5.00 and the phone will work fine. I was in mexico in oct and had np problem

I have a T-Mobile phone and it always works fine for me within several miles
of San Miguel with my international turned on, but I usually have an extra
hundred bucks on my bill after a week in Cozumel.......

Take the phone to TelCel when you get on the island. You should be able to get a SIM card. It'll probably be for the Amigo plan which is the prepaid credits. If you plan to make calls to the US then before you leave the store get them to switch you to the cheaper US plan.

Just don't tell my boss that it's that easy, OK? My cell phone does not work on Cozumel and I'm just fine with that. ;^)

DEAL! When I had a boss that was my story and I'll back up anyone using the same. Now that hubby and I are both our own bosses, well, if an hour a day online or a couple phone calls is going to generate $$ and pay for the trip (or another one), I'm willing.

I was surprised that our calls on our ATT/Cingular phone were only .99/minute. No roaming fees at all. Our family plan includes international calls so we don't have the $5/month charge. I have to admit it's comforting to be connected to home whether we need it or not.
