I had read this thread before I left so I was aware of the departure tax, but when I was leaving (I came from Mexico City) I saw a sign on the TACA counter that said (in Spanish): "Your ticketS include all departure taxes. If anyone tries to make you pay a departure tax, please inform the airline." The fact that it was talking about tickets plural made me think that also included my return flight. Needless to say, I was lucky as hell to have JUST enough money to pay the tax before my 6:00 am flight. What would have happened if I truly didn't have the money? Is there an ATM at the airport? (This was in La Ceiba.)

Just got back yesterday. 33.19 U.S. funds. I gave'em 34.00 and got 12 lempiera back. Sweet!

My wife and I just left 2/9. We paid $66.38 for the both of us.

Does anyone know if you can pay in Lempira's or does it have to be in U.S. ?
