Two more for May 9th+ at Hotel Cozumel using Aqua Safari. Where is the Cozumel Palace? Haven't heard of it before.

Cozumel Palace is right across the street from Chedraui...it is relatively close to town.

Aqua Safari has a dive shop in the hotel...My husband and I will be there with friends May 10-17 diving on the fast boat with Aqua Safari...maybe we will see you there?

Out of curiosity, do some places literally have 'fast' & 'slow' boats??.....interesting if so........

Definitely fast and slow boats, probably some in between. Some generalizations, which means there are probably exceptions ...

Smaller boats, faster. Bigger boats, slower.
Smaller boats, fewer people. Bigger boats, more people.
Smaller boats, less space. Bigger boats, maybe more space.
Smaller boats, less shade. Bigger boats, more shade.
Smaller boats, probably no head. Bigger boats, maybe yes, a head.
Smaller boats, your seat is your seat. Bigger boats, maybe you move around and lounge a little.
Smaller (faster) boats, first to the dive sites, with a shorter ride, but maybe a rough ride on certain days. Bigger boats, slower to the dive sites, but maybe a cushier ride.

Again, these are ALL GENERALIZATIONS, so you will probably hear from a lot of folks who dive with ops whose boats are the "exception to the rule". And, as you can probably imagine, there are enough different kinds of divers in Coz that every type of boat is the favorite of a certain group.

Smaller boat are more willing to go to distant sites. Big boats don't want to go too far and want to get at least half way home during the SI.

Sorry Awap-------that's pretty much a generalization......might be true for some but not for all by far and I AM speaking from experience...........(hhaaha---------just read highdesert's post........didn't mean to quote him, but yes----GENERALIZATION!.........).........Betsy

Yes, it is a generalization, I know that larger boats do occasionally make it the Maricibo and I have had a smaller boat that picked me up at the Occidental Grand tell me that Maricibo was to far south for him to go. So, a generalization - yes.

I have seen the bigger vs smaller boats there just thought a dive operation would stay with the same(size) etc--I don't take the time to look @ the names & who's who......My experience is most resorts where we have stayed/used try to stay pretty much the same.......

Yesterday we enjoyed macro fish watching day.So we dove no current dive site.

On 1st diving,we went to La Francesa, current was week. These macro photos were taken by EF-S 60mm F2.8 macro lenz.

On 2nd diving,we dove Punta Tunich shallow, current was week and beautiful .

On 3rd diving, Paradise Reef as usual.

I appreciate Mr. Dave for diving with me.
Have fun in Cozume for all of you.
I will be back soon...

Hey all! First dive yesterday was at Punta Tunish. Current was a little strong. Water temp read 81 on my computer. Second dive was at Bolones de Chankanaab. Very little current. Nice dive and saw a good size Nurse Shark.

I think we might be diving Maracaibo tomorrow if conditions permit.

5 new additions...

I apologize that the image is getting so large. With the addition of scratchmyback, it's interesting to see just how many people visit in the same time frame year after year. Since my first trip in 1999, I know that May is indeed the best time of year to go. YMMV :D
