Agreed, Reefhound. It's on my list of possibilities.

Thanks bug. I didn't feel the area divers would see it if I didn't put it here.

Which half were you in? The news report made it sound like the whole group continued the dive.

I made the dive with my buddy while 3 others (All friends of one another) returned to shore.

The report also states that they found her with no bubbles coming from her reg. So it was still in her mouth? I guess its to early to speculate. Its a shame for her family. I almost went over Sunday myself. It was seriously considered. But I needed to get home.

MRXRAY, Is it usually rough there or is it just relative to wave size?

It's really shallow right now (Less than knee high) to about 50 yards off shore and the waves tend to build up on the drop off and roll in fast. I'd say it was higher than average at 2-3 feet though. Once you got under the surge was manageable and got less at 10 feet to barely noticable at max depth (24 feet)

It's usually not too rough there, but I've stayed on my feet for waves over my head, and went face down in the surf on the puniest of waves.....

Before I go any further, I'd like to say that My thoughts go out to the family and friends in this time of loss for them and would like to ask anyone reading this thread to take a moment to think about the impact to them and anyone associated with them that may read this thread.

No disrespect, but that is what the memorial forum is for. The Accident/Incident forum is to analyze an event in order to learn how to prevent it from happening again.

My condolences go out to the family, but we need to relay information so these situations don't continue.

Once we know a cause, then perhaps we can constructively discuss prevention... assuming the incident was preventable, which we also don't know at this point.

Until we know the cause of the accident, everything else is speculation.

Again, my thoughts go out to her family and friends but if you look at the TOS for this forum and the rest of the threads in here, we often have to speculate at what could have happened in order to determine how to prevent it. It is not the most effect way of discussing prevention but with these accidents, you rarely find out everything you need to piece it all together.
