New Carbon 42 Regulator???? and extreme Abyss?

I heard that they introduced these new regs. Any official word on both of them and their MSRP? What about the specs?

Hmmm, word travels quickly...... We are introducing these products at DEMA this week and I will get back to you with the specs as soon as I can get to them. FYI the breathability of the Abyss will remain the same as it is now. The difference is the included enviornmental seal kit and extra technofluoropolymer coating, which virtually eliminates the possibility of ice crystals collecting on the internal parts of the 2nd stage.

The use of carbon fiber is an excellent idea for a second stage. Now, how long until the competition starts scurrying around to create their own version? Mares, you have introduced an idea that very well may be one of the true diving innovations of the last few years.

And just when my V42 Proton Metal became my favorite modern reg to dive with...It looks look its new "cousin" will need to join the stable.

So would the thought be that these new regs, especially the new carbon reg, be a better cold water/ice diving reg then the proton extreme?

The material does have better thermal conductivity properties than metal. But the Ice Extreme has the coating and comes with the CW Kit (it can be added to the Carbon 42).

We will have final specs soon.

The new Carbon reg sounds like a brilliant step forward in reg design. I look forward to the specs to see how it compares to the Ice Extreme. Sounds like if we add the cold water kit to the new carbon reg it will do the same job, maybe?, as the Ice Extreme.

now that these are aval. i was wondering on the specs. it looks good but why no nitrox? or is it like most regs ok up to 40%

Light weight hey....really doesn't matter if I have to lug around 15lbs to offset the buoyancy of my wetsuit..
