DMT Jen from Reef Gliders found this guy yesterday afternoon at Mandy's. Marine Park is saying it's the second confirmed sighting and first photo.

did the DM notify the Marine Park and did they capture it?:shocked2: I just hope they don't start taking over but I guess there is really no way to stop that from happening they are seeing them frequently in Cozumel now:shakehead:

So when they catch these little critters then what do they do with them once they are in the zip lock bag up on the boat? Just curious.

Randy, bring a few dozen North with you in July, will'ya?

In the ziplock bag, you first pour in some white wine and sauteed garlic.

There's not a lot of white meat on them, but you can pick your teeth with the spines when your done. Other chefs have recommended using the spines kind of like garnish toothpicks for dipping in stolen packets of Long John Silver's "Pirate Booty Sauce". Add lemon to taste.

Lionfish are tasty.
They can be filleted
or pan-fried whole.

Lionfish flesh is safe to
eat.

Lionfish venom is
located in the spines
and is deactivated
by heat.

Lionfish are sold as a
food fish in the
Pacific region.

GO
GREEN eat
Lionfish!

The true hubris of man is finally revealed.
We introduce an invasive species and we think we can over-fish our way out of this.

Amazing.

Priceless Doc!!!!:coffee::D:D

Difficult to prepare due to the stinging spines, but they are supposed to taste good. There is a big article on lionfish in this month's Alert Diver from DAN.

Ya, and the article saws they've been seen down to @500 ft, which makes us spearing and eating them into oblivion a bit less likely..:shakehead:
Do we have a plan B yet?

the nuclear option?
