YMMV, but 98% of local SoCal scuba divers doing dives deeper than 30 feet or lasting longer than 30 minutes... are wearing 7mm wetsuits or drysuits year 'round.I am a certified teacher and I am really getting ready to teach in an area where summer diving is not all 7 mil wetsuit. And deeper than 100fsw, it can be 50F all year long.
The top 30 fsw can warm to high 60's during our warmest months (August - October), but the thermocline is present all year.
But, yeah, it's probably more fun than Idaho diving.
Congrats and good luck!
