I've finally had to use mine. Like an idiot, I had forgotten (lazy) to rinse my gear out REALLY well. Yesterday I dove in the pool to test everything out for a trip at the end of this month. Right, away the inflator started leaking. So, I had to find my tool... couldn't find it. I JUST found it and it works great. Only thing is, it was the freebie and doesn't have the 1/4 inch hole. :| I'll need to order the newer one to be able to use the 1/4 inch hole.

Thanks again Tobin, makes it a LOT easier with one-arm.

Michael

You can always use a crescent wrench, or small bench vise, for holding the small hex.

To bad I missed this post a few years back.
Tool looks great.

Tobin,

Thanks. I did use a crescent wrench. Now I just need a ultrasonic cleaner.

Do you have e rebuild kit for these or the o-ring sizes to get? I think mine are fine for now, but I would like to have a spare.

If don't yet have a ultrasonic try a little diluted white vinegar, soak and then apply a toothbrush.

We don't offer an Oring kit, but we do list the required sizes at the end of the video of how to rebuild your inflator.

Tobin,

I did a 25% vinegar and 75% water and allowed all the parts to get a good soak. Then, I used a cloth to rub it all down. I put it all together and it worked. Should I added any lube to the shaft part?

Didn't think about a tooth brush. I have an extra I'll use next time.

Do you recommend using a cheap utlrasonic from Harbor Freight? 79.00 is more in my budget than the 1200.00 one I found online.

And I'll watch the video when I get home. Not sure it will play on my iPhone.

Michael

EDIT: Very nice. Just used my friends cellular connection to watch the video. Answers a lot of my questions, I appreciate it. I'll need to break it down completely next weekend to get ready for the dives on the 29th and 30th.

Go get it now. It's a great tool to have around. Definitely a must for a DSS wing diver to have in the SADK.

I use silicone grease (111)

The inexpensive ultrasonics are usually ok as long as they are large enough to accommodate the parts you need to clean, typically regs and tank valves / parts.

Tobin is this available on the site now, if so I will pick one up, let me know please, thanks.

It is available on the site.

I was just saying today, as I used my wing flushing hose attachment, that Tobin makes good gear in general, but his true genius is in the little things . . . the inflator service tool, the wing flusher, and the boots for the gauges. It's the little things that nobody else thinks of, that make life as an active diver SO much nicer.

Thank you, Tobin!
