I'm a Fish!
Sorry if I am posting in the wrong forum...

I was considering purchasing some new equipment, but after reading the posts about joediveramerica.com I am very hesitant. I have always been one of those guys who purchased hand-me-downs. I have been browsing the joediveramerica site and picked out the items I wanted...(yet to be purchased) but now having second thoughts. Could someone please guide me to a site that they know is reputable and hassle free. Please keep in mind I am a diver, therefore lack huge sums of money. Thanks

If I was going to go buy gear today I would start with these 3 places depending on what brand I need:

Dive Right In Scuba, Mike

Cave Adventurers, Edd

Northeast Scuba Supply, John

or I also like:

Addhelium.com

Divegearexpress.com

and if that didn't get you what you were looking for or they don't carry your brand or have the item in stock and you need it asap try:

Scubatoys

Leisurepro

If you like I can email you specific contacts and a links.

Scubatoys.com has treated me VERY well. They have great customer service and are very knowledgeable guys. I highly recommend them. :)

Thanks...I found the sites very useful and will start drawing up my birthday and christmas list.

Another vote for Scuba Toys. They may be an online retailer but they are also a LDS in the Dallas, Texas area. Great people and they will go above and beyond to help you out.

As an addendum to my above post, the LDS I frequent in Austin, Scubaland, has also treated my exceptionally and has fantastic customer service. Typically if I buy something from Scubatoys, it is a stock or time issue (it's a 2hr round trip for me to go to Scubaland, so it's not always possible).

Typically all my gear comes from those two sources. :)

John,

There are just somethings that I would advise you to the buy at your LDS. Since you are in the Philippines, that may not be an option for you. I have never had a problem with Leisurepro, but I buy generic stuff from them that doesn't need fitting or regular service.

Living in a relatively remote place I get most of my diving gear by mail order. I used two main sources Dive Gear Express (Florida) and SDS Watersports (Sheffield UK) Both I have found to be helpful and reliable. On the one occasion when there was a problem (a wind supplied with a pull dump instead of a simple elbow) Dive Gear express had a conversion kit with me in 3 days (I was impressed).
