Fish don't hold things, well with their mouths but we have regs.

They also don't have an issue with CO2 loading, a limited gas supply or have to worry about getting their masks swiped off their faces. All potential issues with hand swimmers and the reason behind the "We don't swim with our hands" rule that has been taught for decades.

Come on Dave, People have been swimming with their hands long before SCUBA was ever invented.

The whole point of not using your hands to dive issue is because your hands are not efficient enough and you waste energy and thus use too much air.

Maybe, and I say that not having tried them, the use of these gloves solves that problem. After all, your arm's and hands are very efficient on the surface and by adding these gloves one may actually save air and extend their dive time. I'll let you know after I try them.

I,m not here to bow at the alter of arrogance and ignorance.
I invite any intelligent debate. However I see no value in allowing an entire Idea to be dismissed so easily by a small handfull who obviously feel somehow challenged by the idea.

Ain't it funny how when you finally give someone the fight they've been looking for they immediatly cry foul.

This has been a blast I do have better things to do

See ya

Many of use understand completly. Totally! However, don't agree with the usefullness of these things.

I don't swim with my hands and I expect comptent divers not do swim with their hands as well. It's really that simple, and no cause for people to resort to name calling, getting pissy because I ( and others ) don't agree with you.

I HAVE read every thread in this post. I can't believe, of all people, there are divers who don't get this concept. I understand the obvious questions different ones have asked like, Can I still use my hands to do the things I need to? Do they have any thermal protection? Are they durable? These are all legitimate questions that you would ask about any product. But to ask "Do they work"? or "What are they suppose to do for me". Come on! You're in a serious minority in this thread.

To summarize the comments made on this entire thread;

Divers who immediatly understand the concept of adding "fins" to yet another part of their anatomy in order to increase their mobility in water......95%

Divers who said they still don't understand even after seeing it with their own eyes.......5%

That's just sad.

I have recieved over 200 requests for a free trial pair of gloves from this forum alone. That does not include the dozens I gave away personally during my trip to Florida recently. Not a single one of them after seeing this glove had to ask "What are they for"? In fact they ALL, without exception, were excited to at least try them and see for themselves.

No I thought you were here to sell your product. Sorry I was wrong.

I also don't like to use my hands because my hands are for holding things underwater. If my hands are holding someone, I don't want to suddenly be unable to do a maneuver because I'm so used to doing it with my hands. My fins will never hold anything so try do all my maneuvering with my fins. Second nature and all that.

Anyways, are you going to try them out at the park this weekend? Man viz was INCREDIBLE last week!! Question though, you generally dive with a video camera right? Will you be trying the gloves with the camera in your hands?

I would use these things in a pool, for sure. But not with tanks strapped to my back.

Your arms do not have the strength behind them that your legs do. This will cause a diver to exert more and therefore blow through air quicker AND build-up CO2. For minor adjustments....maybe but that happens so rarely that just your hands works just fine.

Right, with an unlimited supply of surface air. I don't understand how using your hands for propulsion can't have a negative impact on your consumption. I sincerely have no doubt I could swim faster with these gloves, but that would come at the cost of increased consumption.
