I just don't log dives
Just purchased my first speargun, an Ocean Rhino 52 with the kill package and a stringer, besides a cooler for my truck to keep the fish in, what else do you carry that is spearfishing specific??

A GOOD PAIR OF GLOVES, a metal stringer (specifically for Triggerfish), a knife, a backup knife, and I also carry an ice pick (great for braining/killing a poorly shot fish).

P.S. I have that same gun and love it so far. I had a little trouble carrying it through the water at first since it has a good bit of drag but otherwise a great gun. Have fun!!

Fish ID charts are good to have. Mark your gun so you can measure under water. Everything is bigger there!! Knowing the FWC regulations helps also.

An 8" semi flexible Forschner Fillet Knife and a box of gallon sized ziplock freezer bags.

Best of luck to you!

A speargun with all stainless steel trigger, sear AND line release....:D:D:D

if you cant find a ice pick (i couldnt at first) use a old screw driver. youll need to take a grinder to it to sharpen it up. dosnt need to be stainless who cares if it rusts, and if you do, home dopt sells them for 89 cents. yes a titanium ice pick is nice but i know ill lose it before i buy 70, 89 cent screw drivers, yes i did the math on it. oh tie it off to your BC.

shoot the biggest AJ you can find first, then every thing else will be easy.

Standard spear fishing gear: Dynamite; Grenade launcher; Modified Riffe Competition 84 inch gun with 15 spear Gatling launcher; 12 titanium Rambo style knives strapped to both legs and both arms; Horton crossbow; Napalm; Navy rebreather; 3 X 12 Bushnell scope; Laser sighting; Plasma tipped floppers; motion detector; flares; six game bags; 10 stainless stringers; and a 34 inch Louisville Slugger baseball bat. When I’m diving lite!

Lots of good advice.

I have a couple pairs of gloves but not sure how good they are for spearfishing, so any suggestions would be appreciated. I have a metal stringer on order. I have the kill package for this gun, which includes a muzzle mounted kill spike and a handle mounted T-handle kill spike.

I will pick up the fish ID charts and have been studying the FWC regulations and printing out the charts they put out. I marked my gun with inch markings to be able to measure underwater as you suggested, thank you.

Ziplock bags, got it, thanks, would not have thought about that..great suggestion.

Shallow gulf spearfishing, so will be freeshafting it most of the time. I do have steel trigger and sear but plastic line holder.

Common sense will be in play. I am going out with experienced spearfishers who are also instructors.

White Knight..gotcha, I am good with all of it, but only have 5 game bags, I'll head to the shop tomorrow and pick another one up :)

any gloves work i buy mine a home depo. you can spend $ 50 at the dive shop for "Dive gloves" or 7 for good fitted work gloves.
