Nor have you been answering any of the on-topic posts which make your position look ridiculous.

The long video from the AG shows the Whaler aggressively attacking an at idle, non harassing smaller vessel and endangering lives while destroying said AG. The fact that I see that is not evidence I am off topic. If the topic is who is at fault for the collision I think it is obvious the Whalers are at fault. :shocked2:

The funny thing is some of you think you will somehow change what I see. I have not thought you all would change how you see it. Long ago I said we would all see who is right when the report is issued. Whether you like it or not as many as 4 countries will probably end up issuing reports on this incident and charges will likely be filed. :coffee:

I have had all the fun I can stand for one day; see you tomorrow. :mooner:

If the Whalers hadn't been out there whaling....the collision would have never happened either.

couldn't resist. :rofl3:

The whalers are going out to whale. Sea Shepherd followed them to cause damage and disruption.

If Sea Shepherd had been floating around out there when it was outside whale season, the whalers wouldn't head down there to ram them. This is also evidenced by the fact that the whalers don't go around chasing them on their other campaigns.

See the difference? One is defensive and one is offensive.

Yes, the SS crew used their mental powers to cause the Whaler Captain to change course and drive his vessel into them so they might all get killed. :shakehead:

The SS boat is a lightweight 2000hp trimaran that will accelerate as fast as a small family car and quickly get to near 60mph.

Or there's an old fishing boat with a top speed of 15mph that would take a good 10mins to attain.

To cut the bow clean off even a fiberglass boat would take a reasonable impact and would be a good run up for the Japanese vessel, don't forget that bow was designed to take a hammering from the southern oceans while traveling at 40kts.

The only way this could happen is if:
- SS crew are completely incompetent and can't drive the boat (quite probable)
- SS had engine failure on both engines and was dead in the water (nope)
- SS was not keeping a proper lookout
- SS just didn't bother moving

However you support their cause you'd have to be brainwashed to think they are anywhere near the innocent party on this. I'd bet there would not be quite so much sympathy if it had been a Somalian pirate boat that was hit.

The collision was a set up photo op, the Bob Barker was in position, the AG gave a short burst of throttle, success!! Except for the pesky videographer on the whaler that showed them giving that shot of throttle right before the collision.

The AG is a highly maneuverable craft, there is no way a large whaler could sneak up and out maneuver it.

If I rob a bank with three others and one of them kill a guard, were all guilty for that death.

Ok, I will try one more time... Using your analogy: You kill a guard last year; I wasn't there and had nothing to do with it. This year we rob a bank and get caught. I would not be guilty of that death by association with you.

Whatever SS has done in the past, it's in the past. People involved in any incident at that time may be culpable. Yesterday has nothing to do with today. The Skipper of the Whaler and the AG will be held accountable for their actions, not the actions of the organization they work for unless they are directly implicated in that action. That's how it works!

Whatever SS has done in the past, it's in the past.

Absoluely not. The past does matter because it tells this "supposed council of legal whale guardians" people speak of that the SS have a VERY CLEAR history of doing certain things in certain ways. Innocence is NOT something they can plead at any time.

Anybody that is ready to "hang" these people (either side) based on 30 seconds of video footage which raises more questions than answers IMO needs a reality check.

Dave, do not think that I believe the SS crew to be blameless, as this is not the case. If they have broken the law, they should be held accountable.

I wasn't at the scene of this collision and can only judge what happened based upon the video evidence (which has been posted by halemano several times). It's clear to me that the Whaler rammed the AG.

I do not sincerely believe that either of us have "been brainwashed."

If it was a Somalian pirate boat, I would condone ramming it IF it was currently threatening the life of people aboard the ramming ship AT THE TIME. In other words, in defense. Being a Somalian in a boat doesn't make you a Pirate. There is no evidence that the AG was using deadly force against anyone at the time it was rammed.

I know that this is a big surprise for many on SB, but you cannot use deadly force on someone because they tick you off. It's this mentality that causes people with road rage to shoot at each other, because someone gets cut off. What a bunch of Cowboys! NEWSFLASH: It's not the wild west, no matter how much you wish it was so. People are suppose to act civilized; not like a bunch of Baboons.

Innocence is NOT something they can plead at any time.

Innocence is ALWAYS a presumption in law Steve. We had the discussion previously about deadly force and you agreed. What's your point?

My point is that I cannot believe how much time we have all wasted on such a stupid thing (but I am not surprised :D because everybody loves a :trainwreck:). You are prepared to "hang" every member of the whaler based on "30 seconds" of video which proves NOTHING conclusively. Absolutely nothing. Were you at the helm of the whaler? Do you know for certain they did not have some sort of mechanical malfunction? Thankfully you are not part of a jury of peers involved here.

We are not a court of law yet you have these people spending eternity in jail because you have convinced yourself that they are guilty. There is absolutely no GUILT at this time except you have convinced yourself otherwise.

That is my point.

off :soapbox:

I don't think that's accurate Steve. I have said countless times that we will have to await the investigation. I have also added that it appears that the Skipper of the Whaler purposely rammed the AG from the video presented. I've also noted that the Skipper of the AG and the Whaler have likely violated Maritime law.

I suppose I've chimed in because of the prevalent attitude of it's ok to use deadly force because the AG crew are associated with SS that have used various tactics. I obviously disagree with the use of deadly force unless it's warranted.

If all the facts were known, there would be nothing to discuss. A discussion board is fueled by opinion, not facts. :)
