I would have to agree with the sentiments of the OP.

When an online retailer puts a "customer review" section on their website, it tends to suggest that they are so confident about every aspect of their service (quality, price, warranty etc) that they have allowed an open discussion on their site. If the product review section is going to get censored to make sure that only positive comments stay, then there should be a disclaimer stating:

"REVIEWS BY DIS-SATISFIED CUSTOMERS WILL BE DELETED!"

We will see what happens to the sales.

The forums are for discussing all things SCUBA and diving in general, including complaints about overpriced gear and accessories, even those sold at Scuba.com. This place is not a store front or even an internet sales outlet. I think the OP's thread about the price of a product sold on Scuba.com was completely appropriate and if it actually was removed by ScubaBoard, well, that smacks of some real insecurity.

That being said, free speech does not exist here. This is ScubaBoard's world and we are just allowed to play here. Their ball, their rules.

Typo I think.....ScubaBoard has nothing to do with this. They have no control over Scuba.com's board or it's contents. Your reference to SB might have been a typo.

How does scuba.com know the OP doesn't work for a competitor and is simply trying to steal customers? While $6 bucks is too much for this item, it's not unreasonable of them to protect their business from potentially shady practices by others.

No typo. The OP complained here, on ScubaBoard, about the price of something on Scuba.com. Since both ScubaBoard and Scuba.com are owned by the same person, I think the OP has a legitimate beef.

.....SB and Scuba.com are owned by the same person?

IF Scuba.com was making the paint and selling it at $6, then maybe.
On the contrary, in this case their high price could simply reflect their high manufacturing and operating costs. This is when outsourcing to China comes handy.
But they buy from someone else who buys it from someone else, and all those people in the middle need to make a profit. And double is not unusual at retail on some items.
Double is not unusual, but 6-fold is so unusual that a special term is used for this: a rip-off.

since when?

Jim Hearndon and his wife (Melinda I think) own Scuba.com

Pete Murry owns Intermedia Procuctions, which is who runs Scubaboard. Maybe Jim is his "super secret silent partner" (conspiracy theory starts ..... now...)

Maybe we want to rethink the typo statement.

Yes but I would rather stay away from lead based paint. Thanks for the "sourcing tip" :shakehead:.

Higher mark-ups are absolutely commonplace in many industries (100%, 200%, 300%......and much higher). How many businesses have you been involved in from the sourcing to the selling? The smaller the part, the higher the mark-up in most industries. Go out and price a part for your car and then look at what you are actually charged.
