I have 2 sets of doubles reg kits with miflex, 3 deco rig kits and 2 singles reg kits with miflex. I have used miflex since they came out and have hundreds of dives on them. I have never broken one or had one come apart so far. They have been rubbed against steel wrecks, been dragged through caves and chimneys chasing sharks and been on numerous trimix decompression dives.

The only hose failure I had this year was a 24" RUBBER high pressure hose. This doesnt mean rubber is bad but the failure was unexpected on a 6 month old hose.

My only complaint is the thinness of the miflex high pressure hose. With gloves on I have trouble reaching under a deco bottle and locating the hose to follow it down to the clip when checking the spg.

well, there is no point. I was stating a fact that an instructor for cave diving in FL highly recommends changing miflex to regular hoses.

Well, that's actually stating "hearsay" as opposed to "fact."

Not saying the guy didn't say it...

:shocked2:

I think they might be easier to kink is what they were saying. ?? just some thought

Well it may have been a fact that he stated what the instructor said. Now the instructors statement would be an opinion as like every thing else in life dive gear is specific to its intended type of dive. The miflex hoses would be very useful in some types of dives and useless in others. It really depends on diver prefrence.

Just to put it on record its fact that the instructor made a statement. it would be hear say as to state what he said.

i will be a little more careful next time commenting on something I haven't seen myself.

point taken.

I suppose I will own my rubber hoses quietly next time.

:D

*sigh* Well now Miflex want me to call next week to discuss my questions. Bit of a pain as they are in UK so there is the expense of an overseas call as well (I only have a mobile) as having to time it right because of the time differences. But I'll give it a go.

Not sure why they could not answer a few simple questions via email.

Have them call you.

Any update on this?
My annual reg service is end of April, I had intended to add the HP hose while it was in the shop. My motivation is simply travel weight and volume. My Cobra/QD has a swivel built in and I clip it at my sternum, so other issues mentioned don't seem like problems to me.

But the failure issue does, and I may wait on this. Saspotato, any further info from Miflex that suggests the issue is understood and fixed?
