We all have purchased one item or another which we look back now and question why we got it in the first place.

So my question for you is what have you purchased that now you look back on it and wonder what made you get it in the first place or if you have any equipment that you find totally useless?

When I started diving I was told a dive knife was very important tool to have so I went to the LDS and got my self a nice big (expensive) Rambo knife. After strapping it to my leg and almost losing it when it got caught on rocks I decided that a nice small (cheap) knife strapped to my BCD works just as well.

I've still got that big heavy Apollo dive knife. And the SP Gorilla fins.

I also regretted giving up my Cochran for an AirX.

I got bought a dive knife for a christmas present that got lost on the first dive, the clasp was ridiculous, I have no idea how it was intended to stay in the sheath.

Other than that my poseidon regs, although they are ace i work as an instructor, my last job was central america where parts and expertise for poseidon are totally non existent, I bought them as a recreational diver and just did not think about the long run in that way

I've had my share of buying foolish items. After 10 years of diving, I guess these fins are at the top of the list.

Do tell.....Why?

You can see from my avitar that I'm not a small guy. Add steel doubles, some deco cylinders, drag from a dry suit and a guy with poor trim and it was just too much for the fins to push through the water column.

I'm sure they have their place in diving, just not on my feet. Lol

Thanks for clarifying. I am considering trying a pair but still on the fence since nobody close uses them.
