I ordered the lens from Mako just 'cause it was not very expensive to test it out. It installed just like you see on the video I posted previously and works perfectly. (They now have instructions on their site) Oh and they shipped to me extremely fast too.

I had not had any previous experiences dealing with Mako before, but I have to say I'm very pleased. It has to be a great company when they post "How to get permission from your spouse to go spearfishing" in their instructional section. Although, I can't find it anymore :( (Never mind here it is: https://makospearguns.com/instructional_info_gpw.php)

Their spears seem excellent too... I'd love to test one of those babies up! (HINT HINT!!!)

I ordered the LCD screen and a flat lens. I have the eyeofmine housing but wanted to try this drop in lens on the stock housing since I have it and don't use the camera for land shots. Product arrived in 3 days. I hope to get the camera in the water this weekend and will try to use both to do a comparison between the two versions.

Hi everybody,

as owner and inventor of the original goforfocus lens, which had been copied by Mako, I need to announce that I´m holding a patend pending status for my lens. The USPTO number for that case is 29387406.

So selling this lens is a patend violation.

You can buy the original goforfocus flat lens at one of my dealers or straight from my webpage.

best regards

Patrick

Good luck on the patent.

Also, as a FYI, the protection afforded by a patent does not start until the actual grant of the patent, which lately seems to take a year and a half. After granting the patent, it will become a patent violation for others to sell.

All the best, James

Update:

We have had to bump up the price of our lens a few dollars, but we have also added a brand new mounting system that is primarily designed for attachments to spearguns, but the system is very versatile and could be used to mount on camera housing or who knows what else.

I get that you guys have to make a living, but those little lenses are getting a bit steep.

Also, $6.90 (the cheapest shipping I could find on your cart) is ridiculous for shipping when my lens shows up in a plain white letter envelope wrapped in the sales receipt with no padding or anything. (at least the front end of the lens still had its little plastic cover on it...) You either need to start taking more pride in the way you package and ship your product, or charge less for it. At least double a thin piece of cardboard around it so that the postal machines do not destroy the envelope its in.

I do have one of your lenses, you did ship it in a timely manner, and it does work pretty well. Its been to about 90FFW and has not leaked yet, so kudos for that... I can already tell though that my lens will not last long due to accumulating scratches on it.

I know that GoPro products are the hot ticket now, but please come back down to earth on your pricing. Doing that WILL influence me to be a repeat customer.

I had the GoPro down to 127' on Sunday with no issues. I am however seeing a lot of small scratches showing up also. (I'm pretty anal about protecting my camera and video equipment) So, I'm not real happy about that. Maybe you guys could sell me a spare lens at the old price since I bought the camera, the LCD screen and am about to order a spare battery from you guys!! Thanks, Rick

Has anyone tried that scratch protection film (Zagg) they sell for cell phones? Seems like you could get a scrap piece big enough for these lenses if it doesn't distort the imagery. I know some folks use it on their dive computers.

I have it on my SPG, dive computer and Droid X. It works great but it looks like it would distort the picture...
