And you think all those plastic cases will thwart the Cozumel security from taking the batteries? I believe that's what this thread is about.

Yep. Based on my experience a couple of days ago, these cases are not enough for CZM security. They want these batteries inside actual electronic devices if they are going to be carried on the plane, otherwise they will be confiscated.

And before that we had Pearl Harbor.
Not in my lifetime. And last I checked, the Japanese aren't still out to get us. When the Japanese invade Hawaii today, they bring their wallets.

Should we abandon all of our military radar installations now that we're no longer worried about Kamikazes flying Zeros? I personally don't believe the TSA goes far enough.

I rest my case.
Wasn't the Kaycee Anthony prosecution recently quoted saying the same thing?

Well, just the last week I think I read about a guy from TX getting caught leaving Coz with a loaded .45 magazine in his carry on. Clearly the TSA in TX apparently missed it. Perhaps this is Coz reacting to that?

If the said security person is doing this for self gain, may they get stung in the genitalia by a passing Lion Fish! If they are miss informed maybe we can fix the problem. I'm going to print and insert this in my travel documents and tell the fine individual(s) that these are the rules I was told to abide by...

I asked the OP if the batteries where checked.
Batteries are not allowed in checked bags since 2008. If you did check them previously, god bless.
I think if you tried to carry batteries in your checked bag now, this could lead to confiscation.

Read the "protected short circuit" info below:

umm, dude, might I suggest you reading your own link ? It kinda looks like batteries ARE allowed in checked bags (as long as they're not uninstalled lithiums)...just sayin'........

Dooood...
There is conflicting information.
Carry on only (TSA):
TSA: Safe Travel with Batteries and Devices
Protected Circuit, Allowed checked (FAA):
http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org...fo/media/airline_passengers_and_batteries.pdf

I just carry my batteries in my carry on as I posted pictures. I travel frequently and have not had problems. I also travel in small aircraft and have taken the protected short circuit thing rather seriously (for my own safety). Cozumel/Mexico has enough problems getting touristas there. If I can help get someone through legally and safely with out hassle that is my goal.

for what it's worth, last Aug 2010, I successfully carried some spare batteries (C's and AA's) in one of those little clear plastic battery boxes in my CHECKED luggage without issues inbound or outbound from Cozumel....maybe I was just lucky......maybe facts-on-the-ground have changed in Cozumel since then ? Given what I'm reading here now, if I were to return to Coz (debatable) I'd probably do what I did last time instead of doing the carry-on thing.
