Does anyone else have problems with their fins bumping into one another when diving? It makes me feel like I need to fin with my feet pointed outward (like a ballerina) and it's distracting. I have no problem with my Atomic split fins but I got the jets for when I anticipate current and the need for more oomph - and because they're shorter and fit into my luggage easier. Anyone else have this problem?

When you are wet and want things to move along a little faster .... spread your legs a little more...

You need to work on your kick technique. You shouldn't need to spread your legs that far out. In fact it's really not enough of a distance to make a noticeable difference between any fin type.
Try bigger but slower paced kicks. You don't need to flutter your feet with jet fins. Think whale kicks, not sardine kicks. Glide between each individual kick.

I have gotten the hang of the type of kicks I need to use - and I'm generally fine after the first few minutes into the first dive - meaning I remind myself not to let my feet get too close to one another. But it's still distracting ...

The most-used kick, by people with Jets, is the frog kick. The interference you experience in a flutter kick doesn't matter with the frog.

I daresay that after diving with Jets, you'll quickly become one of the folks that primarily frogs, too.

All the best, James

Nothing wrong with bumping your buddy with your fins. In fact it is nice that they stay that close. Just stop once you feel them, and change your kick or use your other fin.

I agree the frog kick to me is natural since I always swim breast stroke. If I bump someone or something with my fin I usually just change to a modified flutter for a foot or two until I am clear of the obstruction.

Peter, I'm not bumping into my buddy - my own fins are bumping into each other! I'll be working on trim and frog kick. Thanks all!
