Unless you need a lot of weight, the Zeagle Zip Touch weight pouches are the best I have found. Each pouch attaches to your BP with a couple of sex nuts and the pouch threads through the waist strap as well. Very secure. Nice ditchable system as well. If you need additionally weight for singles, then some pouches on your upper camband can give some options for trimming.

Well, except if you use a canister light, then the right side pocket will interefere with the canister.

I would say if you don't need too much weight, say 10-12, a weight belt can easier handle it. If you need a lot more, something like DUI weight harness seems like a good idea.

g1138, that's one of the reasons that I really like a weight belt. Life is much nicer when I don't hang 100 lbs of gear off my shoulders.

Yeah you're telling me! I give that advice to the students that ask, but instructor's rules are solid. =[

How did you attach the weight to the tank strap without a pouch?
You thread a hard weight(s) thru on the cam bands. Top one for more weight up top, and lower one for more weight down low.

Did a dive today... and put 6kgs. at the Tank Strap... Love it... thinking of just putting a weight pouch so its more secured.

Is that a safe approach?
6kgs is not that much. Can you swim up a full tank?

My husband uses a DUI Weight & Trim harness, to get around the need for a weight belt, and keep the weights ditchable.

I am wearing the same harness too. I posted in another thread that I did not like it but have since adjusted it differently and now it is comfortable. How does your husband where his? Is it above the waist belt of his wing? That is where I have adjusted mine to and it feels good there. Before it was like g1138 was saying and hanging low and banging around on me. I don't have a short torso so my harness was swinging around on my hips/backside which was seriously annoying. I felt like I was wearing a low rider weight belt.

My actual needed weight with an AL80 and a wetsuit is 6lbs, so my 6lb steel backplate takes care of all the weight I need.
Before I was more experienced and started dropping weight, I just strung hard weights onto my harness's belt all the way to the back until they couldn't go any further due to the backplate.

I use scuba pro integrated weights on my belt loop. I hated using the weight belt. But can someone explain to me why i always see people with belts instead of integrated with bpw. Is is preference or is there some specific reason tek wear belts
