Last summer when I dove on vacation, I brought my own reg, but not my BC. The BC that I rented had an octo holder that fit perfectly on my ABS octo. It was similar to this Octopus Holder with Split Ring but wider. Every one I look at on line seems to have reviews saying they don't fit well with Aqualung octos. Anyone using one like this on an Aqualung?

Here's something that has unfortunately happened with some of those 'Scum Ball' type octo holders: The mouthiece stays protected by the ball, while the octo second stage pulls away from the octo holder (and the mouthpiece) easily.

So many people have moved away from them.

This one (Trident Silicone Octo Holder with Clip) has some real advantages. The pre-dive safety check of breathing off the octo can be done while the octo is in the clip, and it is both secure, and easy to attach.

IMO none of the octo holders on the market are worth using. I have found that the best solution is a standard rubber snorkel keeper threaded through itself and the ring on the right side of your BC with the octo mouthpiece through the opening of the keeper. Holds the octo well, provides an easy release when necessary, and costs less that at buck most at most LDS. I have handled the gear of more than 3000 divers the past few years, and seen no solution that works better than this suggestion.

Bungee fit all of them.
Is there a "standard" way to use a bungee that is not a necklace? The reason I say "not a necklace" is that while I understand the theory, I hate things around my neck. I hate ties and won't wear an ID on a lanyard.

Sometimes the best solutions are the simplest. :thumb:

I will give both of these a try.

In the NE, that bungee necklace should rest against your thermal protection rather than your skin. But It still may not work for you. In any case, it might be worth a try - it's cheap enough.
