PayPal?

Anyway, my conversations with them were satisfactory but a little abrupt. I put it on the regional NY / Jewish mindset, short and to the point.

Exactly what is a Jewish mindset?

I certainly know what a New York mind set is but I'm not sure I know what a Jewish mindset is?

What happens when you speak to a Jew in Texas? What wins out the Texas mindset or the Jewish mindset?

You might want to revise your post as right now it has some unpleasant undertones !!!!

If you find the right one, you can get the best Reuben sandwich west of the Delaware. But it is Texas so it still will not have as much meat on it as in NYC.

Naaah I think best Reuben west of Delaware would be in Philly. Tons of us yids there. Not as much meat as NY but more than Texas.

I fixed it for you. No offense was intended, being part Jewish I was was probably not very sensitive to how it might sound to others.

So what does that mean? Does it mean they only cut off half?:D

Very funny:D. I meant paternal blood line, does not count in the religious sense. I am one of those weirdos that takes a perverse pleasure in putting my NRA sticker right next to by Brandeis University decal on the car. It does get some looks.

This has exactly been my experience as well. I have never seen this absurd idea of placing the authorization/hold *plus* the charges with the authorization/hold then "falling off" 7 business days later. The authorization always disappears at the same time when the charges are confirmed, presumably when the purchased items are tagged as dispatched/"ready to ship" by the seller.

In my personal experience, it really depends on the card/bank. I still have a United authorization from 6 months ago sitting on a Citi mastercard, I'm not sure it's ever going away, but it's also not eating up my available balance. I also have a debit card that authorizations always fall off within 24 hours regardless of being charged the full amount for whatever it is I'm paying for.

LP should be paying you interest :D. This really is not an acceptable policy IMO but the easy way around for me is to use my credit card or paypal.

An authorization doesn't mean money in the merchants account. The cardholder is not paying interest on an authorization, so there's no need for a merchant (in this case us/LeisurePro) to pay interest.

FWIW, this sounds like a programming issue.

When processing a transaction with a temporary authorization, the CC company gives you a Transaction ID. This is supposed to be referenced when capturing the funds before shipping the items, which changes the temporary auth into an actual charge, so the charge doesn't appear twice.

It sounds like one of your programmers didn't quite get this part of the CC process right.

flots.

Actually, we do have it setup correctly/the way you describe. We just don't have any control over how PayPal and banks talk to each other. After sending your message to our team and having them confirm that our system is setup how you describe, it's pretty clear at this point that this is just how PayPal deals with things. Note my shock and dismay that PayPal does something screwy

If you contrast it to Scuba Toys, they bend over backwards to chat more with a friendly Texas accent and casual manner.

I live in Oregon where we're somewhere in between the agonizingly slow discussion speed of Texas and the ultra-brief speed of New York. It took some getting used to for sure, but now I love that we can have a conference call where we blast through 10 different topics in 45 minutes. Emails are short and to the point. But now I get frustrated when the person in the drive through wants to ask me how I'm doing instead of just handing me my drink and taking my money :D
