Hi, SCC has a good deal and I am booking a dive trip with my college aged son over his spring break in March....

2 Questions:

1. I am trying to decide which meal package to take: Breakfast and Lunch only or all 3 meals?

The question is dinner. We save $15 per day by not taking it as part of the package and I'm not sure which is best as I have never been to Cozumel before. I am inclined to not take the dinner part as I we may get tired of eating at the same place all the time. But I am not sure what the other restaurant options are nearby.

Is there a decent selection of local lavor (beer and taco, seafood, etc) type places that are reasonably priced within walking distance?

Or if not should we just get the meal plan including dinner at the hotel?

In other words, if you have been to SCC before which would you choose?

2. Also what is the water temperature like in March? Are we likely to need any type of wet suit? I have a farmer john I could take, I'm not sure if I should bother.

Thanks in advance.

There are a few places in town, about a mile or so away. The food and service there was the best part of my trip last year.

Thanks! That's what I kind of needed to know. I wasn't sure if there were a lot of easy to access restaurants near by, but if they are a mile or so away and we don't have a car it sounds like getting dinner at SCC is the way to go.

Do you have any idea about ocean temp in March?

When we stay at SCC, we do a night shore dive almost every night; either before or after dinner. That makes eating at SCC very convenient. I have never found a wetsuit to be necessary in COZ but March is probably in the 80 to 82 range with a few cooler currents that come through on deeper boat dives.

Part of the holiday experience for us is the food and we find the food at SCC to be OK but boring. We find the walk to and from SCC a nice way to end the day, and there's dozens of places to try out.

That's what I was originally thinking... Now I'm not sure which way to go. Are there any places near SCC too? Or are they mostly a mile or so away?

We just got back from SCC meals were good something different every night, just go with the 3 meals and even if you do go out one night no big deal, your going to pay more that 15 dollars a night to eat out thats for sure. Besides if your like us and doing a lot of dives you may be just to tired to venture out every night.

The food choices in Coz are outrageous! Super high end gourmet to $1.00 street tacos that are to die for! I can't imagine going to Cozumel and only eating at the hotel no matter how convenient it is! I've never been sick, and we also like the walk into town and a $7 cab ride once in a while is great!

Another idea: Can we just a buy dinner at SCC if we are too tired to venture out some night? If so anyone know how much they run?

Scuba Club is not even half a mile from town. A 15 minute walk will get you to any of the plethora of great dining options - and YES - it's perfectly safe to walk as well. And if you ARE too tired to walk, taxis are abundant and will run you about $6 to any in town restaurant.

It would be a real shame if you don't venture away from the hotel for meals - especially when so close to everything!
