Dive trinkets?

This kind of a thinking is a bad idea.
Stay streamlined, minimalist. Leave only bubbles.

Umm, Wally, I think your Oxygen tank just come loose.

A reef hook. best way to stay at the bottom with current while preserving the reef IF THE PLACEMENT OF THE HOOK IS CAREFULLY SELECTED.

A trinket? Hmmm let me think....

Well, all I use is:
Wetsuit w/ hood, gloves, booties.
Jet Fins with fixed thick rubber straps
My SCUBA consists of a tank on a plate w/ wing, simple harness, reg with one second stage and SPG.
Plain mask.
Dive knife.
weight belt
Wrist Compass
Depth gauge
Timer
Game hook
Spear gun

And now I just got a Mares Puck simple wrist computer to use as a timer/depth device, but it could be used as a computer. So I would say the only "trinket" would be the computer part.
Everything else I pretty much need.
Except for maybe the wing, that could be considered a trinket, and also the SPG if you want to split hairs - don't really need that if you know your starting pressure and use your depth and time to calculate your air usage. That's what they used to do anyway.

I picked up a Darrell Allen light recently, and made it operational again.

You only need two tools in life – WD40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn’t move and should, use the WD40. If it shouldn’t move and does, use the Duct Tape.

I'd second this; I had my first experience with a reef hook in the Maldives and it was a glorious thing! Once you get your configuration right and your buoyancy and you can just float in the water column effortlessly.
