Thanks! I am so looking forward to meeting you all! My husband will love this dress code. Islanddream hair and make up will be Hawaiian style, clean and pulled into ponytails, make up is lip balm and tinted moisturizer with spf...I know not near the reef. Seems like looking at pics from Curaçao we will have a few "free t's".

I have a question:
Our flight arrives on Brac around 1:00 pm on Saturday. Will we be able to eat lunch once on site or will we have to wait till dinner ( the answer will dictate if we need to pack a lunch).

The packages usually start with dinner on the night you arrive but you can purchase lunch either at the bar or in the dining room at CBBR (they will charge it to your room.) One time when we arrived early we purchased lunch in the dining room but we didn't feel that it was worth the price. I suggest buying something at the beach bar or bringing lunch. Not that the bar food is cheap but you can see the prices and make your selection.

I think that the buffet food service at the CBBR is really very good, and the dessert bar offered at lunch and dinner is always great, if you have a sweet tooth.

You could also purchase lunch at the GCM airport before you leave for CB. The Hungry Horse indoor/outdoor restaurant is on the upper level. You can watch the planes take off and land and have a few drinks while you eat. There is a sandwich bar in the departure lounge but that is also operated by the HH. The HH food is rather mediocre but it is okay and the only option in the airport. Nothing is cheap in the Caymans.

If you have a long interval before your flight to CB you can check your bags with Cayman Airways and catch the free shuttle from the airport to the George Town Yacht Club, which is only a few minutes away. You can enjoy lunch in a lovely location while overlooking the marina and the beautiful boats - but make sure to get back in time and don't miss your flight!

We have never purchased the 3-drink per night package at CBBR so I can't comment on it, but as I mentioned previously - liquor is pricey in the Caymans - so you might want to pick up a bottle at the duty free shop in the airport before you leave the US (or Canada, or elsewhere!)

Oh you just may regret this post. I have a million questions but I'm sure they will come up naturally in the next 9 months. But my 1st question is what have you seen "firsters" bring that they did not need. I don't want to be packing a lot of stuff that I just won't need or use. I see the posts about what to bring, but am more interested in what not to bring. I've in the past prided my self in being able to travel for several weeks with just 1 carry on. Scuba has changed that for me :dramaqueen:

One of the wonderful things about ScubaBoard Invasion and SURGE events is you get lots of extras. Coming up in the months leading up to the event we'll start additional threads. One of those threads will be on packing and travel tips. So don't worry about anything right now, we'll have plenty of time to plan.
Some of the other threads to look forward to will be the T Shirt design (Crew will get to vote on their favorite design) and the Sponsors thread (prizes from our generous Sponsors for the crew to win) and a Things to Do in Cayman Brac. And a few other threads along the way to keep the crew informed.
Also we will be posting a Crew list and map on Friday!

Lunch is from 12:30 - 1:30, so you probably won't make it to the resort by then.

@KathyV are you planning on joining us?

I would love to join you but that isn't possible. In fact, I will be traveling to Hawaii on business in January and hope to bring my husband and add on some dive vacation time! (Although the water will be colder than I like!)

However, I have had so much fun monitoring your plans for the Surge that I've just booked our 4th trip to CBBR in Oct/November of this year and I can hardly wait!

FYI, this week the Travel Channel is showing an episode of Expedition Unknown focused on Blackbeard's treasure and Cayman Brac. It is a very silly program and they pretend to be looking for treasure - but not very diligently! It's a lot of nonsense but it is fun to see images of CB including the dive sites at Anchor Wall and the Russian Frigate wreck. Here is some more information:

Love the t's! We got a Curacao Surge shirt for attending. We participated in the Lionfish hunt and got a t-shirt. You're spot on with the Hawaiian style!

I can't wait. Cayman Brac has been on my list for a long time.
