There are certain retailers who still carry the Oceanic Pro Plus 2.1 model. It has been replaced by the newer Pro Plus 3, but it's still a fine computer. I have hundreds of dives on mine and I've never had an issue. Even the replacement battery kit is reasonably priced. It's air integrated, so you'd have to be OK with that. The text is gigantic and the graphs (nitrogen + O2 sat + ascent rate + atr) are always on screen and very easy to read. You should be able to get one "new" (unused, at least) in the area of $400. Considering it cost 2x that when it came out, I think it's a bargain among the available very large text computers.

The XDeep Black OLED bottom timer? Or the german jewell: heinrichsweikamp

A prescription mask is a third possibility.

What's your budget? It looks like many are selling their first generation Shearwater Petrel's for about $550 to upgrade to the Perdix.

Nothing AT ALL wrong with the first gen Petrel, it's just that the newer ones come with a compass and are a bit smaller.

While it's not directly what you asked about, a prescription bifocal mask would solve the problem and allow you to see more than your computer (SPG, for example, compass, etc.). And it's cheaper than a computer.

No bar graph but large numbers for a very good price: Cressi Leonardo.

Consoles have bigger screens. Otherwise OLED/TFT with the attendant price tag, battery size & life, etc.

Are you sure? It is the case for WAtch computor. Bit the wrist computers are very often in two version, one console intergated and one with wrist mount.

FYI, I sold a leonardo, only 2 years of age for 110 $ and I bought an Aladin 2G for the same price. For a beginner, this is a good way to go.

Well, proplus, wisdom 3, and cobalt seem to have larger screens. But for most of them you're right: they just take the same puck unit and stick it into a console or a wrist-mount boot.

I am sure about backlit TFT/OLED displays being more visible (except in bright sunlight) and requiring high-drain high-capacity batteries.
