unwed,
Technical discussions usually bore me,:loopy: but I am a history buff. I enjoyed your posts and would like to know more, keep on posting and thanks for the additional references. :tree:Bob

Hey UWsince79 -
This is much appreciated, I find the timeline interesting.

As far as the rules and regulations goes - I guess it would not hurt to make a footnote of who wrote it (it might even be very interesting to see if GUE paraphrased their material from somewhere else...).

Cheers,
Big T

Thank you for your comments. I have seen quite a bit on the board of written works but they are not footnoted. So from here on out I will foot note my posts do hope everyone else follows suit. As for where they received there information, I can point out directly where they copied there text from, and of course they did not footnote it, but I really do not care it is others that do. (And if you read my origional post and pulled out the book you would notice the differences, but so be it.....):doctor:

Contributions to the Board are not paid for, to my knowledge...and the knowledge of my bank account. Further, this Board is not a scholarly journal and, thus, footnotes and attribution are not required...even of UWSince79!

However, what attribution does is give folks a chance to go to the source and do in depth reading and that is appreciated by a lot of people. So it would be a service to include the info.

At any rate, UW, do not feel compelled to footnote everything, but I guess you have to be prepared to "suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous ..." if what you write looks very similar to something that has been previously published...

And, I still enjoyed reading your post!

Copied or not, nice summary - Thanks.
I know that NAUI sanctioned Nitrox training for recreational divers in 1992 (I believe this was the first Traning Organisation to sanction Nitrox diving).

I'm currently reading Deep Into Deco. He does discuss how when Nitrox was first introduced to recreational diving it caused a huge uproar from most of the major certification industries (PADI was the last in the US to do so). A lot of people wanted Rutkowski kicked out of professional diving.
