I travel to dive in warm water and have an oceanic Cruz bcd which has served me well but is soooo big and heavy it takes up much of my bag. I would like a travel BC and want to switch to back inflation anyway. I have been looking at cressi ultralight and air travel (I think air travel is discontinued however). Also zeagle scout. I am leaning toward the ultralight. I noted that there are no trim pockets. I always use my trim pockets in the Cruz for a few pounds but maybe won't be a big deal because back inflate? I'm guessing I will need a little more weight with these since they are so light ? Any thoughts on these travel BCDs would be appreciated. Thanks !!

Search for travel in the bc forum and you will find lots of threads. Many of them are quite recent.

Some other back-inflate travel models to consider - btw the Scout only has rear weight pockets.

The other travel models in the Zeagle line:

Covert - their smallest/lightest - rolls up and weighs 3.9lbs.
Stiletto - heavier full-featured single tank model - more expensive.
Express Tech Deluxe - more of a soft backplate design that can be configured with a weight system or add-on pockets.

Two other back inflate travel models to consider:

Aqualung Zuma
ScubaPro Lighthawk.

I'm between an ETD and a Lighthawk.
I've owned Zeagle products for about a decade and been satisfied with them.

I use trim pockets on my Ranger to keep me mostly vertical at the surface - then when I roll over to dive having more weight in the lower front pockets makes it easier to be horizontal while diving.

What about the new Aqualung Outlaw? Information on it seems to be pretty scarce, but at less than 4 pounds, it could be an option. Has anyone seen or used one yet?

That's new,,

No hard d-rings seems weird. I also think a caribineer on the shoulder is a really bad idea unless it's locking. Plus you have to add the weight system.

It does look pretty comfortable if the tank/tank holder don't flop around too much.

Love my new Litehawk by SP. It has rear trim pouches and it also has two smaller pouches by your side you can use for weights or something else. Doubt I'll ever dive my Seahawk again.

I saw the lite hawk older model on sale for $250. Anything wrong with the 2013 version?

I wouldn't say there was something wrong with it but if I remember right, that version may not have the rear trim pouches. When I bought mine the LDS did have one of the older versions and I just liked the new version a lot better.

What's wrong with adding your own cam band weight pouches?
