I mean, it doesn't... you know... have to just be a guy thing.

Um.... I was talking about taking a wiz (though not in my suit)....

anyhow, back to the thread....

but yes, we routinely drift the River here, having a good time seeing fish, bottles, and tampons.....

I know. I was trying to make a joke--like a woman could pee off the back of the boat, it's just not quite as common.

I'm Nitrox certified and have never used it. On Bonaire I could have all the free Nitrox I want. No thanks. Why? It's a PITA. 1st you have to calibrate the analizer, then test the tank, then log it in. 2nd you have to not only monitor N but also O2 (over multiple dives) and watch MOD.

I just want to grab my tanks and jump in the water. I've never had a problem with SI, NDL, etc. doing 5 dives a day. Nitrox - no thanks.

If I want to look at rusted crap I can drive over to the local junk yard. Absolutely no interest in wrecks.

You should be analyzing any tank you use be it air or not.

It's scary that laziness is a reason to not dive nitrox.

I have heard of people who got tanks of “air” that had something other than 21% oxygen and 78% nitrogen. This can be very bad.

Out of an air compressor, that's rather unlikely. However asking air out of a nitrox compressor, it's possible I guess.

Sounds nice. How do you do it? Cause' I have done OW and AOW and have never been trained in it. I have no equipment to do it. I have never seen anyone other than Nitrox divers do it. I would be much surprised if a significant percentage of rec divers analyzed air fills. Or if they have not had nitrox or tec training, had ever been trained how.

...next time you see some of the nitrox guys measuring their tanks, just ask if you can borrow the gas analyser: it takes literally 1 minutes to do it

If analyzing air fill, you don’t need the Nitrox guy’s analyser that checks oxygen, instead you would need the carbon monoxide analyser for “bad gas” in case the compressor sucked in exhaust. Or an analyser for both gases: COO2 if Diving Nitrox.
