i300 is on clearance for 150 at a few places online if you don't mind not having bluetooth.

Although this is a great bargain, but if he wants to download the dive-log into his PC, he will need to buy the USB cable for it and all of the savings will be gone then.

Plus the fact that the USB cable connection is a pain in the butt. Unless they changed the PPS software, it's also garbage. I still have my 14 yr old Oceanic Veo and it works, backlight is gone, but the software and USB cable were nothing but junk. I got so disgusted I sold the cable for 25 bucks I think. Didn't bother to download dives. I still don't even though I have 3 Shearwaters now. I'm used to paper logs and the Shearwaters give me all the info I need to log my dives. It's nice to look at the profiles on the DC's themselves but I have no need to load them onto my desktop. The bluetooth is nice for upgrades when they are issued.

The computers he told me he had were Mares Puck Pro Plus, Mares Quad, and Shearwater Perdix. I keep going back and forth between getting the AL I300c now or waiting to buying the Mares Quad AI after I have saved up money. But thats a different discussion.

I suspect the recommendation against the Aqualung model is because he is a Mares dealer. I don't have any experience with the reliability of the Mares line, but we have had the i300 in our rental fleet since they were released and we have had zero issues with them. He does carry the Shearwater Perdix...which is a top rate computer but definetly not in the i300 price range.

I read somewhere maybe on here im not sure but the i300 model that is being price reduced has had bad reviews for leaks i beleive. They have a new model i300 that is a new and improved version and i think LP has this one for 299. check into it before dropping the cash.

I just don’t download dives... barely (and sometimes don’t) paper log them. I used to write all this great descriptive stuff, now it’s mostly about weighting with various suits and tanks... boring!

The i300C was improved over the i300 by the addition of Bluetooth. The i300 is $180, download cable $85, total $265. The i300C is $299.

Why would I need to pay for a down load cable? I won't even pay a dollar for it!
Bluetooth compatible! What has it get to do with diving?
As far as I know all computers have memory for the most recent dive history(finite number). All I need to do at the end of every diving day is to copy it down into my paper log book. Piece of cake.

For some computers, not all info is available in the computer log and more information is in the download. For my Oceanic VT3, beginning and ending tank pressure, average depth, and calculated SAC and RMV are only available in the download.
