An hour in close corridors with a stand up urinator, the chain smoker, the guy who never shuts up about his dive history etc. etc. can be miserable.
FWIW, My wife and I just came back from two weeks on Cozumel, and we spent every SI on the boat. We encountered none of the inconveniences of which you speak. To each his own (and neither of us are prone to seasickness), but SI's on the boat are fine with me.

Best surface interval I ever did was diving Columbia Shallows right after the first dive! Still lots of no DC time left. In reality, it was just an hour safety stop.

SI on the boat is the norm for many parts of the world and I can't believe divers can be such weenies, considering this is a sport where you are in the elements in the first place and get back on the boat with stringy hair and snot on your face. I find it quite relaxing to tak a nap while rocking on the boat away from "civilization".

^^^ THANK YOU for this comment - I agree 100% - stop being whiny babies.

^^LMAO!!!! Both reasons why I keep to myself on and off the boat. I NEVER want to hear about the big shark you saw in the 90s while you blow 2nd hand smoke my way

While it may seem contrary, I like to SI at PC pier and stay on the boat.
Normally so do I but occasionally I liked walking over to the Maximus to check and see if you were in town. Now I am muling down heavier chain for sand anchoring

Why would you have to mule that down? Readily available here

And another busy SI at the Palancar pier this morning.
