@drhappy
Have you gotten to do any additional diving with your new camera setup? Have you gotten to take any courses locally? I am going to start looking at the stuff that B&H photo and Adorama run out of their offices to see if there is anything interesting coming up.

Thanks @Scubanoobi great info
How far out do you find yourself zooming out to eliminate the vignetting completely? I have the Kraken krl-01 and like I mentioned in my earlier post, I didn't zoom out in any of my photos so I have a lot of post editing to do to remove the vignette and distortion on the left and right.
Does anyone know if the zoom can be set once in the field and then lock in the setting to always return to that zoom setting as the camera is turned on and off during a dive?

I think I have to zoom in around 34mm (in 16:9) to eliminate it, 4k starts at 36mm so no issues when shooting 4k.

I don't think there is a way to lock the zoom.

I'd be curious to try this. My thought has always been that the real advantage to shooting a flat Log color profile is only really seen when color correcting 10 bit footage, but some recent conversations have made me re-think this.

@Scubanoobi, I'm assuming in your tests you've found it worthwhile to shoot Cinelike D?
Cinelike D is not a log profile, it's just a flatter profile than the standard ones provided. I do find I can get more out of the video in post and it retains more of the shadow details. I wouldn't say that it's a necessity though.

[QUOTE="C2 is set up the same as the above except -
Focus is to Macro
WB1 - I set this on a grey board at close range with both my lights (2 x 2500 lumens) on
Depending on the subject, I sometimes attach a wet macro lens.

Hope this is helpful and happy diving![/QUOTE]

@choiahoy - do you set the focus to Macro for video for photo (or both)? Because in video mode, I don't think it actually does anything, in regular focus mode I can get to the min focus distance. Macro mode in video seems to do nothing.

I use the macro setting for macro video.

You have me curious now, and I'll run some tests later today--I've used most of those settings since I first got the camera.

Yeah I tested it a while back. It’s just for photo mode. Let me know if you find out differently.

I gang, life stepped in and I've been away from this conversation for a while. Headed back to COZ in August and I'm looking to add a Stobe to the mix. What are you guys running with your Nauticam housings? I'm looking at the Inon S-2000 due to its small size.

Correct, there is no way to "lock" the zoom, but you can set the camera (in the Menu) to remember and return to the last lens zoom position every time you turn the camera on and off. Unfortunately, this only works when turn the camera on and off. FWIW the vignetting on the Kraken was so bad I returned it.

@ReadyDiverOne I agree the vignetting is pretty significant and I even sent a photo to the company to show them how intense it was. They were very responsive and I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that its really just a matter of zooming out to around 34 to 36mm like you've mentioned. I am going to Cozumel this month so I will give it a whirl.
Thanks so much for telling me about the "remembering" the last setting. That is great and will help me not to forget (I hope) LOL
